Church Overview

In a prominent position overlooking the town, Alyth Parish Church was completed in 1839 to a design by Thomas Hamilton. Gothic, with Romanesque influences, and an unusually high spire. Eighth or 9th century Pictish stone stands four feet high in the vestibule. All windows have stained glass and include work by Alf Webster. Large funeral escutcheon marks the death of Sir George Ramsay in a duel in 1790. Three-manual organ by Harrison & Harrison 1890.

Alyth Parish Church, Library and Museum have joined together to offer a FREE Family History Resource for locals and visitors alike. A computer database in the church holds hundreds of photographs relating to Alyth people, school, businesses, events and views, as well as headstone and burial records. Alyth Parish Records dated 1623-1854 are available to view on microfilm. Further details on the church website.
