Church Overview

First cathedral to be built after the Reformation, being consecrated in 1850. The architect was William Butterfield and the choir, crossing, transepts and part of the nave are to his design, the west front, apse, chapter house and cloister are by LJ & FL Pearson, 1911. Richly decorated interior. Baldacchino in Cornish granite, fine wooden statue of the Risen Christ and interesting stained glass. Founder's window, the font, rood screen and one of the banners by Sir Ninian Comper.

Opening Arrangements

Open Monday to Thursday 9 am to 4.30 pm and 1st Saturday of each month from 10 am – 2 pm for a community lunch in the Chapter House
