Church Overview
Built near to the ancient foundation of Mortlach Kirk, Saint Mary's is currently lined up for extensive restoration. Designed by James Kyle in 1825, St Mary's is a classical church with Gothic trimmings; the façade is ornamented with buttresses and a pierced balustrade. Inside, Gothic touches are given by the Stations of the Cross and the ribbed plaster vault. A large painting of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary hangs over the high altar.
