Church Overview

This small rural church was designed by James Miller, who also designed Gleneagles Hotel. It was built 1892-3 by workers from the local slate quarry using stone from Ailsa Craig brought by railway (free of charge) to test the weight capacity of the new branch railway. Charming Arts & Crafts style with pale harling and red sandstone dressings. Oak-panelled reredos. Organ by Henry Willis and Binns. Major repairs and external renovations carried out 2009, with aid from Heritage Lottery fund. Organ repaired and restored 2009 and now suitable for recitals and concerts.
