Church Overview

The present church replaced the original St Mary's (consecrated 25 March 1857).

The new church, of pleasing modern design, opened in 1984. Designed by Frank Burnet, Bell & Partners (Glasgow), many of the original furnishings and stained glass windows were incorporated in the new church.

Notable features include the original font, the altar which is a memorial to those from the parish who fell in the Great War (the names of those killed in the two World Wars appear on the front of the chaoir stalls), and the stained glass representing characters from the Old Testament, St Mary and Our Lord. The small side chapel, the Epiphany Chapel, has stained glass representing the Three Kings and an icon of the Virgin and Child (a gift from St John's, Greenock) when the church was consecrated).
