Church Overview
Nave-and-Chancel church, designed by the Rev E Sugden, 1888, in Gothic Revival style. Marble altar and wooden 18th century Flemish pulpit. The font, in the form of an angel holding a large shell, is thought to be a copy of a font by Danish artist Bertel Thorvaldsen in Copenhagen Cathedral.
The organ, built by Wood Wordsworth of Leeds, was presented to St. Mary’s Sisterhood in King street in 1890. It was acquired by St. Margaret’s in 1979 following the closure of the King Street Convent.
