Church Overview
Built in 1788. A wide rectangular church with harled walls and freestone dressing. The church is adorned with urn finials; its west end is a charming product of 18th-century taste, in which Italian Baroque has been skilfully naturalised to a Banffshire setting. Beautifully carved marble altar with gilded wooden reredos containing a copy of a painting of St Gregory the Great by Annibale Caracci. Two holy water stoups of Portsoy marble. Exquisite stencilled wall decoration and coloured floor tiles in the chancel. Oustanding survival of pipe organ by James Bruce of Edinburgh 1820, with carved Gothic case.
