Church Overview
The Cathedral was founded in the 1100s and mostly rebuilt during the 15th and 16th centuries. It was the church of John Knox during the Reformation and played an important part in the history of that time. The church contains fine examples of late medieval architecture and a wide range of traditional and modern stained glass and memorials. The magnificent Rieger organ was installed in 1992. The Thistle Chapel, designed by Robert Lorimer for the Order of the Thistle, was added 1909-11.
