Church Overview

The chapel attached to the home of the Archbishops of St Andrews and Edinburgh. A charming Byzantine church built by R Weir Schultz 1907, under the will of the 3rd Marquess of Bute, to take the outstanding Italianate classical interior designed by William Frame in 1889 for the Chapel at House of Falkland. Porch by Reginald Fairlie 1934. There are examples of stained glass windows by Gabriel Loire of Chartres dating from the 1970s; other windows were installed in 1999 commemorating the 1,600th anniversary of St Ninian and the 1,400th anniversary of St Columba, as well as a millennium window. The chapel contains memorabilia of the Archbishops since the restoration of the hierarchy.
