Church Overview
The King Street building, now the hall, was erected in 1845 as the United Secession Church. Margaret Bell, wife of Henry Bell (of steamship fame and first provost of Helensburgh), was a founder member. By 1861 the congregation (now United Presbyterian) had built the present church on Sinclair Street. The architect was William Spence (who also probably designed the hall). A tall square tower is the particular exterior feature; the interior is spacious with a horseshoe gallery. The organ is a fine instrument built by Harrison & Harrison of Durham.
