Church Overview
Collegiate church rebuilt in 1449 by William Crichton, Lord Chancellor of Scotland, infamous for his involvement in the "Black Dinner" at which members of the Douglas family were murdered in front of the King. Restored by Hardy & White 1898 and Benjamin Tindall 1998. Fine pointed barrel vaults over choir and transepts and splendid square tower over crossing. Stained glass windows by Ballantine and Gardiner. Interior woodwork by Jones & Willis, organ by Joseph Brook & Co. Magnificent position at head of Tyne valley close to Crichton Castle (open 1 May to 30 September).
