Church Overview
A pre-Reformation church founded by St Maelrubha in AD 690 on an island in the Blackwater(Abhainn Dubh). The church had to be rebuilt after the Macdonalds burnt the church and congregation in 1477.
An 18th century plain harled church incorporating some late-medieval work; a sacrament house has been revealed in the east corner of the north wall. The walls were heightened by eight feet in 1832 and two galleries installed; only the east gallery survives following the re-ordering of the interior in 1919.
Stained glass window, 'I am the Good Shepherd', by Roland Mitton. Two late-medieval graveslabs in the vestibule.
