Church Overview

A church was founded in 1225 on the west bank of the River Leven and rebuilt in the village in 1640. The present building of 1872, by John Burnet, with nave and square tower with pyramidal roof, was originally built for the Free Church. Stained glass windows by Sadie McLellan 1972, embroidered panels by Hannah Frew Paterson 1981, woven silk hangings by Sarah Sumsion 1990, and engraved glass windows by John Lawrie 1992. Peal of six bells augmented to eight for the Millennium.
